Hail, Twilight Empire
I know I've been conspicuously absent for the past few months. Recently, I've been in the midst of a short move up to a new space, which means getting established with internet and cable again, upgrading my other devices (XBox live now, whee!), and generally figuring out what to do with my computer. In the midst of setting it up to run wirelessly again, I came upon the old problems I had when I was at college.
Namely: the damned thing kept locking up on me.
While trying to correct this problem, another one began to spring up. I was noticing Windows was being less and less co-operative with transferring files to my new external drive, transferring files from one folder of my computer to another, and then with even completing the simplest of tasks. I would have to load my task manager, end and restart Windows Explorer a number of times to get it to function. And this is the computer that has my WoW installed, up to date, and the spiffy video card that lets me play it in the first place.
Now I can't even log into it at all ._.
I have a new error message popping up now that my hard drive itself has errors/is damaged/sick/non-functioning, which means it will be out of commission for at least a week while I submit it for diagnosis and repair. Hopefully they'll be able to find and fix the problems with my hard drive and wireless card....hopefully I won't be too much longer out of commission, and you can have your favorite ladies warlock and priesty active and proper again....hopefully it won't cost me an arm and a leg to repair...
...and hopefully, it can be repaired at all =(

I have a quote back from the repair shop. The hard drive itself was starting to fail, so I'm looking at 1.5 hours of labor plus the cost of the replacement drive, somewhere around $185 in total =/
The good news is they managed to save a good chunk of data from the old drive (about 120 gigs worth) which hopefully will include WoW ^^
The REALLY good news is that it should be all done by tomorrow evening. =)

Sadly, I have to reinstall just about everything, WoW included, so it will be another day or two yet before I'm officially back in action. Will have to think about how to justify all this time away...maybe alien abduction? =)
And now I find out my external hard drive (which has all of my movies and creative stuff) is acting up...I just can't win with these devices. =/
