(This is actually kinda lengthy, but it's a complete recount on Alistaire's history. Take your time )

Alistaire Nightsong was born as the first child of Solaera Nightsong, latest leader of the Nightsong Clan, Kal'dorei Nobility. In the terms of the Nightsong Clan, females were meant to lead. The males would be hardened and sent into war as a soldier to die for the glory of the clan. Solaera had no different plans for Alistaire. Dissapointed with the birth of a son, she also had a daughter only two years later, Aerinea Nightsong. Alistaire befriended Aerinea when they were just children, they would play games around the towns they'd visit with the clan. The clan was slightly vagrant for diplomatic purposes, always trying to make good bonds with those that are useful. They would travel, and as they did Alistaire's mind programmed itself to love the change of scenery they would face as they moved about. Even as a child, he was subtle, making games out of spying on people older than himself. He and Aerinea would also do things like find animals in the local areas of their newest resting spot, befriending them and learning to love them. While Aerinea would learn things of diplomatic measures from her mother, Alistaire communicated with the local townspeople, hearing different tongues at play. He enjoyed communicating with others, even as just a child.

At the young age of 22, Alistaire had to adjust to a permanent residence when the Nightsong Clan crafted itself it's own Manor of sorts within Darkshore. Alistaire then met another young Kal'dorei in his personal travels around the area. The Night Elf was named Mariana, a beautiful girl that instantly captured Alistaire's fancy. He was captivated by her grace and play on words. He eventually dedicated his every minute without Aerinea to Mariana. After a couple years, the two fell inlove. Alistaire's entire life was his lover and his sister, for with the disapproval of his family he didn't spend much time in the Nightsong's amount of land. Over the years of his life, he learned about the animals living in Darkshore and also picked up on Mariana's ways of speaking beautifully. He learned to talk in a way that each sentence was like a poem and he swelled with pride at the elegance that he held in his speech. His lover was very elegant, believing in always moving with an orchestrated rhythm. He learned to love it as well, and it became a passion of his. The two became very close over the next 40 years, spending time of each day together. Eventually, Solaera Nightsong discovered Alistaire's relationship and hatched a new plan.

Alistaire Nightsong was not to be given the chance to develop a true sense of emotions for the plan was to stop his pace of emotion so he would become a war machine, ready to serve the Clan as a mindless warrior. Solaera greatly dissapproved of Alistaire falling inlove and so she decided to turn the tides of his fate to a new pace. Solaera had her own soldiers keep an eye on Mariana and her family, to find out when she would be left alone. They formulated a when and where, and when she was on her own for a small amount of time, they assassinated the young Mariana. The only evidence they left behind was a bloodied sword. Alistaire was the first to find his love's corpse on the floor of her house. Seeing her bloodied and lifeless crushed him. His heart started to beat the drumming of a new tone. Not of that of a man inlove, but that of a man of truest anger. He started to blame himself on her death, thinking it was his fault that he wasn't with her, that he couldn't protect her. He gained a drive to become stronger, drilling into his head that it was his lack of power that was at fault for Mariana's death. Just as Solaera had planned. Alistaire began to change, the only emotion he carried was anger, mixed with sadness. He slowly lost touch with the outer world, the only thing bringing him back to his feet being his sister. His next 6 years of life were empty pages on a decorated journal, he lost feeling for everything. He didn't know how Mariana could be taken from him so easily, his anger towards fate became worse with each day.

When Alistaire aged to his 69th year, he was sent into an odd room within the Nightsong Manor. When he had walked in, the door locked behind him. He became confused that he was locked into a room, and was told he was to be confined in the room until further notice. Alistaire's new room held an extremely wide variety of books, all relating to war tactics, past happenings and Azeroth's land itself. There was also a bed and a set of weapons. The intention was for him to train himself, which he did. He began to read and practice his handiness with blades. He did this for the next 2 years, his mind dulled from the loneliness and anger at what had become of him. But, on that 2 year marking point from when he was confined, a guard opened his door and threw in another person. The guard barked something about a servant and shut the door. It was a young human, at the age of 12. His name was Matis Romenauv. He was training to become a faithful servant of the light for as long as he could remember, and was trained in minor holy techniques. He lacked his own mind, ready to serve Alistaire. Alistaire, starved from the world and any companionship, befriended the young human. Together, they trained. They read.

Alistaire and Romenauv would talk of the pasts of one another, Romenauv talking of his days training as a faithful to the light. Alistaire only talked to Romenauv about his sister, who he missed dearly. Alistaire, in turn, tried his hardest to surpress the memories of Mariana. Romenauv, hearing of Aerinea, became dedicated to help Alistaire see her. He started to turn his skills with Holy magic into something more offensive, something small that might be able to break the lock of both their prisons. After two years of being together in the room that held both of them as captives, Romenauv managed to bust the lock with a spell. Alistaire, shocked by his performance, wasted no time in sneaking to Aerinea in the courtyard of the Manor to see her after four years. Swelled with joy, the three happily rejoiced, but Aerinea informed Alistaire that if he were to try leaving he would be hunted down by Solaera's soldiers. Knowing such for himself, Alistaire chose to stay within his boundaries. Now, though, he had a new hope. Once a week Alistaire and Romenauv would sneak to Aerinea in the courtyard, where they would teach Aerinea about things they had read, and different techniques with blades. Alistaire was dedicated to do anything to regain a bond between his sister and himself. This went on for eight more years, them constantly seeing one another. Over those years, Alistaire and Romenauv both became incredibly knowledgable and skilled from their free time of reading and sparring.

Twelve years had passed since Alistaire's original confinement and Aerinea had grown fed up with the situation. She herself confronted Solaera Nightsong about Alistaire's confinement, telling her that her judgement was terrible and that she should release her son. Solaera, infuriated by this, addressed her son on the matter, accusing the man she had not seen in twelve years of corrupting Aerinea to try doing his dirty work, of sorts. Alistaire denied all claims, but Solaera would not have it. After a verbal bout, Solaera had Alistaire banished from the Clan and taken out of the Manor where he was knocked unconcious and left on the other side of the world, on a shore in Westfall. When he woke, he knew what had just happened and he also realized that he had finally lost what he had been keeping such a weak hold on his entire life. He was no longer a noble, he was cast from the Nightsong Clan. He made his way to the city of Stormwind where he managed to find Romenauv again, who was also thrown out of the Clan's grounds. Together they decided to do what they could to get by. After trying multiple things, Alistaire chose to take a darker path as a professional assassin. Romenauv met with the Argent Dawn and worked with them. They became normal people, to an extent.

Two years later, Alistaire was approached by his own sister, Aerinea, yet again with news of the Clan moving to Darnassus and other things. Aerinea had left behind the Clan on her own terms without word to anyone that she was leaving. At that word, Alistaire put his life as an assassin behind him. He chose to live out his life with two of the three people who had ever meant anything to him. They lived in a quiet peace together for two months until they had heard rumor of a group. The Twilight Empire. Interested, they both had chosen to join the ranks of the Empire. From then on, Alistaire had a new group of people who loved and respected him, where he felt at home for once.

Only a short time after his joining of the ranks, however, he heard news of a group that had been troubling his beloved Empire. They had a man named Tiburion, a mage who Alistaire had not known but did belong to the Empire, as a hostage at Darrowshire. Knowing he had to take up arms, he and a friend of his, the Demonologist Vaalrn Vaux took the battle to the Horde that held their brother of the Empire as a captive. The two of them with an advantage over the six Horde they fought were backed up by more of the Empire's people. After vanquishing the opponents, Alistaire and his comrades took Tiburion the mage to a safer spot. There it was analyzed that a poison had corrupted him, a poison crafted by the Forsaken. After a long period of theorizing what to do, Alistaire, Vaalrn, and another comrade, Matasuntha, grouped together and judged Tiburion was far beyond healing. After this thought being passed, Alistaire killed Tiburion himself. This killing shocked Alistaire's mind with memory of his short time as an assassin, remembering the feeling to kill another being so simply. His mind started to race again.

As he realized that he was not strong enough to save the life of the mage, Alistaire looked upon a new light. The Night Elf Demon Hunter named Altruis resided in Nagrand of the Outlands. After hearing of him, Alistaire sought him out. Alistaire had a fire in his eye to learn the ways of the Demon Hunters. After grueling training over a short amount of time, Alistaire was judged ready to use a certain item he collected to gain his own Demonic prowess. Alistaire had been given a book filled with spells relating to Fel Magic. Alistaire was to study a collective technique, forbidden on all accords, that would literally steal the demonic energy of another Demon Hunter. He then took off for the Karabor Training Grounds outside of the Black Temple with the company of Vaalrn, Romenauv and one of the Empire's senators, Kethelenos. There, Alistaire met the three Demon Hunter teachers on the way to the top of the sanctum, defeating each one of them and ripping their powers from them when they transformed themselves into Demonic beings. Then, Alistaire took on the strongest Demon Hunter in the Training Grounds, a blood elf. After taking the Sin'dorei's demonic essence, Alistaire began to shake. The Demonic influence pressured his mind as the overflow of Fel Magic swirled in Alistaire's mind. He faced a demon manifested into his soul and conquered it swiftly with the guidance of his Senator. He then possessed the power of a Demon Hunter, but the structure of which Alistaire gained such power was crooked.

On the 7th of February, the first day of the seasonal event "Love is in the Air", Alistaire decided to visit a spot on the beach in Darkshore where he and he love would meet to pay respects. Alistaire went, but waiting for him was another Kal'dorei who worked for Solaera. The Night Elf confessed to Alistaire of how he was the one that killed Mariana, that he enjoyed it, and that he would enjoy killing Alistaire at that spot there and then. He intended to provoke Alistaire. He succeeded. Alistaire, being unarmed, reacted by burning out the Kal'dorei's tongue with fel fire. A second or two after, Alistaire immolated the man's entire body with fel fire for an extended period of time, leaving his corpse as a pile of ash. A second after, Alistaire called out his sister on the Guildstone. He assumed that Aerinea had known that Mariana's death was from their mother's decision. He was right in his assumption. He then dropped his Guildstone, not wanting to hear anyone and sat in his own silent anger, his right hand burning immensely from his abuse of his Fel magic. He stayed on the beach until Aerinea, the Empire's General Donnelly Keithson, and a soldier Diviir Bladesong found him on the beach. Aerinea and Alistaire began a heartfelt conversation about their past and it's contents, leaving the rest of the world outside of their personal bond. After words being shared, Alistaire gained his composure and retrieved his Guildstone, letting his Empire know he was okay. His hand, even then, felt like it was deteriorating no matter how unharmed it looked. The price Alistaire payed for his vicious reaction to the taunt was not only severe pain, though. Such beastial wrath takes toll on the Humane soul.

To be continued.

Just finished reading this last night, and I have to say it's an interesting back story. You told most of it to me in-character, but it's nice to see all the details and intricacies that are harder to convey in such a setting. It was also good to see a recap of the events that happened after Alistaire joined the Empire, as told from a biographical perspective.
